Review on Ultimate Protection: Encased Galaxy Note 8 Rugged Belt Case - Military Grade Armor Cover with Holster Clip (Black) by Jennifer Davis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This inexpensive replacement car became almost my daily driver!

I've been a hardcore case + holster with top spring belt clip with iPhone and Samsung Notes since 2007. Despite several attempts with other manufacturers, I often use Seidio Dilex or Convert Combos. Since Seidio's Note 8 Dilex now has angled guards that protrude too far and they weren't ready for their surface, I found ENCASED and chose their RUGGED REBEL BELT CASE. Having no experience with Encased, I was skeptical of their quality in the $17 combo. THIS IS WHAT I FOUND: BODY: APPEARANCE: Very basic, but manufacturers rarely offer tasteful design options for their rugged models. PREPARATION AND PROCESSING: Only decent quality. The outer layer is like a $10 plastic case with rough edges at the seams at times, but use quickly smooths it out. After tightening, slipping off is impossible, you have to bend both layers, which will create gaps in the next step if you are not careful. FEEL: While Encased offers traction with textured sides, the "inner layer" plastic (outside on the sides and front) is almost as hard and smooth as the outer layer's outer shell, which glides everywhere like a hockey puck on ice. USE: As mentioned, the button covers are very difficult to press and don't feel like the button is pressed, so double-clicking the power button to turn on the camera or even fine-tune the volume is a challenge. Your fingernail is the only way to get the S Pen out. SCREEN EDGE ACCESS: I prefer using wrapped "lips" to protect the screen when stacked face down (see sides as high as up and down to ensure menu note edge is hit or missed. PROTECTION: Extreme good. I don't did anything worthy of a video review, but a few drops on various surfaces (including sidewalk) from 4-5 ft. stayed unscathed. I don't use a screen protector and even the corners of the case don't scratch that easily. STAND : Not here but the holster is closed HOLSTER A: I'm impressed It's as STRONG as anything I've ever used, not only with a thick backplate and clips, but also with strong clip springs, loops and notches for turning (typical failure points) Stand: When the case is inserted face out (though not as securely) the belt clip serves as a decent stand (albeit unless it is slightly off-center). wish they had used it around her body. I want to see if Seidio Surface (finally) or Slim Armor Spigen fit. VALUE: I've never seen so many cases and holsters for less than $20. Served my purpose as an inexpensive makeshift/backup much better than I expected!
