I'm always looking for a good keyboard and trackpad combo for my iPad Pro that isn't the $300 Apple Magic Keyboard. Unfortunately, there aren't many options with a trackpad capable of three-finger gestures. In fact, I can only find the Logitech Combo Touch and the Apple Magic Keyboard that support three-finger gestures. And I've looked everywhere. Pros* Function keys (including the ESC key).* No batteries required.* iPad case detaches from the keyboard.* High-quality keyboard keys.* Larger trackpad (bigger than the Magic Keyboard) that supports 3-finger gestures. * iPad case with full 4-way protection.* Backlit keyboard.* 1-year manufacturer's warranty. Negatives* No secure mount for the Apple Pencil (nor does the Apple Keyboard).* Takes up more desk space than the Apple Magic Keyboard.* Difficult to balance on the lap when used with a keyboard.* No USB-C pass- Through (Magic Keyboard function). The Combo Touch is $100 less than the Magic Keyboard ($199 vs. $299), so you're saving money right away. What I love about Logitech is the extra function keys (including the ESC key), a large and accurate trackpad, and an iPad case that detaches from the keyboard (a BIG PLUS). All of these features are not available on the Apple Magic Keyboard. I also really like that Combo Touch requires no batteries (the keyboard plugs into the iPad connector), large tactile buttons, and a 1-year warranty. Everything is at Apple Keyboard level. Some things I don't like are the lack of a secure Apple Pencil holder, a USB-C pass-through charging port (for charging an iPad), and the difficulty of balancing the Combo Touch on your lap. because of the design. The last point certainly differentiates the Magic Keyboard from the Combo Touch. Apple's design allows for a rigid platform to tilt and display the iPad. The combo touch rests on the back to maintain the iPad's viewing angle. So which keyboard and trackpad combo is the best? It's difficult to say. It really depends on which features are most important. If you need the ability to detach your iPad case from your keyboard and still need case protection, or really need to add function keys and/or want to save $100 over an Apple keyboard, choose Logitech. When the design is minimalist. important or frequent use of the keyboard on your lap, then use the Apple Magic Keyboard. The latter can be a great SOLUTION for the Combo Touch if you plan on using your keyboard/trackpad on your lap or in bed a lot. Both have excellent trackpad mechanisms. Much better than all competitors. In fact, after looking at the reviews on Youtube, it seems that Logitech redesigned their trackpad to be clickable anywhere (including at the very top of the trackpad).
