Review on SUPRENT Adjustable Beard Trimmer for Men - Rechargeable Hair Trimmer Cordless with 38 Length Settings by Heather Joseph

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great trimmer, bad company ethics

Edit (06/30/21): Whilst this trimmer still works well unfortunately I have to downgrade it even more than I already had (3 stars previously) again because how this one is changing company behaves. The trimmer worked great until the battery was empty. Even when it did, I could tell by the change in sound that it was getting quiet, but it held almost 100% power until it cut out, which is a sign of good voltage regulation, so this is a pro. But then I discovered a pretty serious issue with this trimmer: it only charges with certain USB-C chargers. I first plugged it into a computer charger (it's a working charger) and when nothing happened I left it for a while and then went back to check and found that it's still dead. I sent a message to the company saying they wouldn't charge and would just wait for their reply, but then I tried the phone charger and it worked. So it looks like they cheapened the design and didn't include the necessary resistance to make strict USB-C chargers that require negotiation work, and only those that don't. The only reason I bought these other chargers, and I believe the same goes for many others, is so I can use the same charger for multiple devices ie one charger for computer/phone/trimmer etc. But now I have It's found that while I can and do use my computer charger for my phone and other devices, I still need a separate phone charger for that. While it's better than a proprietary charger or barrel charger, having a charger handy to use with it can still be an accident. And I personally feel that this borders on false advertising because they consciously chose to charge it via USB-C to use that as a selling point, but they semi-rebuilt it and only equipped it with some* USB-C Getting chargers to work I find it deceptive. And looking at all the reviews saying it won't charge, I bet most of them just aren't using the 'right' USB-C charger. So much for versatility. It also uses more power than a charger, so you can't just plug it in and carry on if it dies in the middle of a trim, which is what I was hoping for. Between that and the fact that there's no battery level indicator, you'll either have to charge it more often than you need to, or make sure you have time to charge and finish later when you start. Another reason I downgraded my rating even further, resulting in a 1 star rating for a 4 or 5 star product, is that I never received a response to my email regarding the issue have. I also saw at least one other review saying the same thing. That means it has ***ZERO*** support/warranty, so if it breaks you're SOL. As much as I love the work it does I'm sure you can find one that at least hopefully does what it says on the tin and is backed by the company that makes/sells it. There's really no reason to take this one because the ONE thing it has as a selling point compared to the others doesn't even work properly and if you have any issues with it that a lot of people have, the money you spent on it have it just down the drain. ORIGINAL RATING: I would give a 4 star rating with the comment that it's actually 4.5 stars, but I haven't had enough time to give it a 5 yet. However, the company puts a card in the box offering a gift $10 card for a 5-star review. Obviously I don't use it but the fact that they do is very dishonest and there is no doubt a lot of people give it 5 stars when otherwise they wouldn't just get it for the free money. To be honest I'm tempted to give it 2 or even 1 star for that reason but I honestly think it's a good product and I don't want people not to get it and not get it because of the behavior"miss". Company although this is definitely something to consider if you want to support such a company and if the product is really that good as the true rating is probably 1 star lower. I've used this four or five times so it's hardly enough to judge its durability but so far I'm impressed. All but one was for a facial haircut, which isn't a difficult task, so I couldn't judge based on that too much. Personally I only use it without the attachment, for the shortest trim, but I really like the design of the attachment which is similar to another trimmer I have and that's one of the reasons I bought it so if I ever want to By using a different length, I wouldn't have to fiddle with several different attachments, not to mention less plastic. I've gotten used to the Wahl Anywhere hair clippers, which I've had since I got tired of being tied to an outlet while trimming my hair, and while I love them, especially the fact that I can change the batteries , instead of charging them, they don't. NiMH batteries don't work well, and alkaline batteries are wasteful and expensive. So I looked for an alternative and after not finding anything else with AA I settled on something that charges via USB-C so I can at least use my computer or phone charger instead of lugging around with one more thing. and it will be useless to have them if I forget them at home. Compared to the Election, they have a much thinner body, thanks to the lithium-ion battery, and I was surprised at how much more comfortable they are to use, both when holding and when manoeuvring, especially around the ears. The downside is that the blades are narrower, requiring more passes, which is especially noticeable when trimming hair. Speaking of which, I was very impressed with her strength. They cut through my hair very easily without snagging or tangling. So far I've only found a few minor issues. First, removing the guard and blade (for cleaning) isn't as easy as I'd like and the instructions don't say anything about it, so I was afraid I'd break it the first time. But that's not so bad, and of course you shouldn't deduct points. I also didn't get a chance to see if it would run on AC, ie. connected to a dead battery. Which brings me to the second issue, which is that there's no battery indicator, so you probably won't know it's getting low until it starts struggling or maybe just suddenly stopped working. Hopefully it works at least when plugged in, otherwise it might end up being a half-finished job. If I remember, I'll update later once I know about it and make sure it's still working after a few charges.

  • finally bought
Cons
