Suitable for southern winters

I'm 5ft 9in tall. I ordered the longest size in large. They fit my long legs perfectly and are soft. They don't fit like compression stockings, but they don't slip off even with my phone in my pocket. I used them to run in 35-40F weather and was still comfortable. They hold off the wind well. I haven't had a chance to see how they feel in the rain.
