Silver looks Like a Sheet of Aluminum Foil

Comes w/one zippered sleeve that a is reversible. Black/White and Silver/Gold when reversed. Zippered, reversible sleeve fits over the sleeveless 24" x 36" translucent disc. I'd give it a 3.5 stars if i could but not a 4.Having previously owned and used better quality reflectors in the past, I would say that as a foldable reflector, the translucent, black and maybe the white might work well but as a sliver/gold reflector (rarely ever do I use gold), I regret not spending another $20 to purchase a higher quality item (like a $45 Photoflex Lite Disc). - The translucent seems OK. There's a small stain on it but not a deal breaker although I expected it to be pristine. After all, it's supposed to be new reflector. - The white looks white. Nothing more. - The silver side looks and shines just as if you pulled out a sheet of Reynold's Wrap Aluminum foil and intended to use it as your "silver photographic reflector". Same with the gold - super shine, flat and smooth. There is no texture to either the silver or gold sides just a very smooth looking surface which I'm sure is highly reflective. I wasn't expecting such a super reflective silver/gold reflector. I was expecting a bit more of a matte finish. Something akin to my old Photoflex. - The handles appear to be a great feature. They make it easy to hold in one hand while shooting with your other if you shooting solo or not using any type of stand/support. The handles make it a bit harder to fold but it's still doable w/o too much extra effort unless you have no experience folding these up. - Durability/Cost: Can't speak to durably of this Selens' reflector because it's a recent purchase and I'v only used it 1x so far. Regarding cost, meh. Let's be honest here, it's a low cost/low budget item. Approximately $25 (w/tax). A McDonald's visit for two people or about 3 gallons worth of gas. I thought this might be good deal when I purchased it but my immediate reaction after my initial unpacking was a little it on the, "should of spent the extra $20 - $25 on a better one". - I'm not saying this is a total bust and not worth your money. Depends a whole lot on the individual. For the translucent, and maybe the white with infrequent use it may be just fine. For white, silver or gold and maybe more frequent use, just spend the extra $$ if you can and get a higher quality reflector. I'll likely just used it for translucent and white and buy a higher quality silver/white reflector. Alternatively, occasional use, you can buy a piece of white/black poster board and it should just as fine as the white/black sleeve.

Pros
  • The Selens reflector is incredibly versatile, providing you with options for reflecting, diffusing, and warming your light source
Cons
  • May not be suitable for larger groups
