The balm is more like a beard oil than a balm. It's very soft and the first time I might have used too much. He's doing his job. It more or less holds my hair in place for a reasonable amount of time (half a day), which is saying a lot considering I wasn't expecting it to have a strong hold when applied to my beard. I felt it moisturized the beard quite well and overall I like its performance. The only major downside was the smell. It doesn't smell like traditional sandalwood to me. It's more like a chemically produced sandalwood scent. It's not bad, but it just doesn't feel good to me "I can smell this all day".
