The tops will work very well as a layer. They are soft however , I would not wear them alone . I will wear them under shared tunic tops and with a shrug. They are on the tight side. I ordered a large, I usually fall between a medium and a large at 5’6”, 155 pounds and 36 DD bra size. The white one was shear, so one would need to wear white bra with it. I hand washed but with as they had an odd smell to them which to go away. I put them on a drying rack to dry as I would not put them in the dryer for fear of shrinkage.
