The cat attacked the sofa several times a day and used it as a scratching post. We already had a scratching post with a scratching post, but not near the sofa. We took the first one and put it next to the sofa where the cat liked to scratch and she immediately corrected her behavior. She likes to run across the room and attack the tripod scratching post. She goes upstairs and rubs her face. Lies under her, extends her claws and lunges at her with rabbit kicks. The jute wears out over time, especially at the top when she pulls on it while climbing. The glue only lasts so long. I bought some more burlap to wrap and tie and all is well. We love this item so much we bought a second one and she will run from one to the other venting her ugliness on both of them. We unscrewed some of the hinges and wrapped the toys around the metal screw and tightened again and she plays with the toys hanging down. I try to undress her but the joints are tight and she can't. Just buy it.
