Review on 4-Person Waterproof Camping Tent With Removable Rain Fly, Lightweight & Portable Backpacking Tent For 4 Seasons Family Gatherings, Hiking And Travel. by Jason Mulah

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not the lightest and sticky zippers

As a backpacking tent - this is too heavy at over 5 lbs. Once I opened it up, I can see where a lot of that weight comes from. There are steel rings and pins at the corners of the tent to attach the rain fly. Also the shepherd stakes are made of steel. I would swap those out for lighter titanium ones. I have not tested this out on the field, just set it up in my living room floor. I think technically this is a single-walled tent. The rain fly only covers the top. There is no vestibule. Since there is a lot of mesh - I would say upper half of two sides - which will be covered by the rain fly, I think this tent would do well in terms of air flow in the summer and condensation in the colder months. The tub has pretty high walls which should keep rain from bouncing up and getting into the interior. It took me about 15 minutes to set this up the first time, but with repeated use, that will probably go down to 10. That is if I want to use this tent regularly. I don't think I will be - I'll probably use this as a back up tent.I like that there are two doors, one on either side so you don't have to crawl over your partner to go outside. There are pockets on each end for devices and what not. It will be tight squeeze inside if you have two regular sized people and gear. I'm petite so it doesn't feel claustrophobic to me. I like the hook at the center to hang a lantern. The doors are half-mesh and you can roll down the inner curtain to have a "window" without letting the bugs in. But the one thing that greatly frustrated me are the zippers. They are really sticky and kept getting stuck because of the outer cover. Once up, the tent body is stretched quite a bit so that fighting with the zipper makes me fearful that one day, I might be too aggressive and rip the tent trying to get in and out. The eaves are nice but not really a substitute for a vestibule.

Pros
  • Easy set-up process makes it hassle-free
Cons
  • The tent doesn't have enough headroom, causing campers to bump their heads on the roof
