Roborovsky's dwarf hamsters, about 5 cm tall, can run an average of 10 km per night! So of course we decided to find our little Thor (big name because this guy isn't afraid of anything!) who can handle the task. We've all avoided spoked wheels because we've read too many horror stories about rodents breaking their legs running through wire holes. We tried those little 1st class flying saucers that are angled to be closer to the ground, but he outgrew that quickly and we didn't want him to have a hump on his back (oops!). So we bought him a second bike, a Silent Spinner (I think it was a Kaytee brand) and he really liked that bike, but it was NOT silent. It's not exactly the company's fault, as it's almost silent for slow-moving rodents (like our new mice, who appreciate their big brother's jewelry), but Roborowski's hamsters run FAST, so the wheel looked like it was about to pop . flew away when he drove over it and it made a lot of noise! We finally got our third wheel, the Niteangel Super Silent Wheel, and were blown away by how quiet it is, even with Thor driving at full speed every night! No humps in his back, he can move this bike easily although I thought it looked gigantic compared to his previous bikes and it's QUIET! A small amount of vegetable oil will stop the squeaking. It's so durable I don't have to worry about it falling apart at Thor's speed! I am very impressed! My husband doesn't mind Thor being in the bedroom at night anymore, so now I can watch the little guy run while I fall asleep (hey, some people count sheep lol). Thanks for a great product!
