I've always liked using extension rings with high-quality lenses for close-ups. Unfortunately, they don't have the same impact on Canon's mirrorless cameras as they do on their DSLR counterparts. I tested this on an EOS R with an EF 24-70 2.8L II lens with a mount adapter and also with an RF 50mm 1.2L lens. In both cases, the photos became soft and blurry, as if they were coated with petroleum jelly. Lens. The extension tube does not use glass, so the quality of the tube itself is not an issue. I don't know what the problem is, but if I can't get even halfway decent results with one of the best and most expensive lenses Canon has ever made, I wouldn't expect anything better from a cheaper lens.
