Lining (bought four) very soft (there were other brands to compare). It 1) makes no noise when my dog steps on it on his bed, 2) it doesn't clump and 3) doesn't move. Check. I poured an approximate amount of water on the pad and it absorbed 30% of the pad in 5 minutes but the poured portion stayed wet to the touch. It would be great if my dog stayed dry (don't know if such a product exists) but it's better than plastic lined pads. My priority is the dog's comfort, not his bedding (stays dry). I throw the rug in the dog washer with its bedding, works fine.
