Review on Upgrade Your Car Lights With Auxbeam 1157 LED Bulbs For 400% Brighter Brake And Tail Lights by Justin Gore

Fit Chrysler, did not fit GM. Some compatability issues with bulb holders

Auxbeam 3157 LED Bulbs White Tail Lights Backup Reverse Lights I was going to fit these as back up lights in my Pontiac 2005 (GM). However even though the bulb base is the exact dimension as the original halogen it is replacing it does not fit. If you see my attached photo of this bulb next to the original halogen you will see that the circular base of this LED bulb has a shoulder. It is this shoulder that rests against the top of the GM bulb holder and stop it being inserted all the way.I was able to insert them into my Dodge Dakota 2001(Chrysler) for back up lights as the Chrysler bulb holder for the identical required bulb has a more open setting where the extra shoulder material on this bulb does not interfere with full insertion.Attached is a photo of the Dodge with backup lights on. The left bulb is this new LED bulb. The right side bulb is the old halogen for comparison. Obviously these LED are a bright safety upgrade.CONCLUSION: I am still looking for bulbs that are compatible with GM. These are great for Chrysler but I will have to give them just three stars as they obviously have compatibility issues across different bulb holders.REVIEW PHILOSOPHY: I only review a product if it is something I am capable of critically evaluating through comparison, testing and use. This means I have experience of using similar items; or that I have equipment or tools that I can test it with; or that I have an upcoming need so I can actually use. I am as selective about getting an item to review as I would be about purchasing that same item, so yes, I expect it to be a good product. My reviews are NOT based on packaging or if it was delivered timely.

Pros
  • Lights & Lighting Accessories
Cons
  • Some drivers may prefer the nostalgic charm of traditional filament bulbs, finding the sharp, modern look of LED lights to be sterile and unappealing
