I have a 10 week old kitten who refuses to use a natural wood scratching post. Instead, she prefers my new fabric sofa. Even though her nails were clipped, the couch was still damaged, ripping out a thread that I had to cut. In my experience, water bottles do not deter cats and leave the carpet/floor and furniture wet, which is frustrating for humans. Who wants to walk around with a spray bottle? Not me! I wanted to try this product. I've tried sticky furniture tape and all I could do was peel the tape off me and not find the cat. I heard a kitten try to scratch my couch after hanging this up. She was unlucky. She has given up. I also love that it comes with screws to screw the product in and hold it in place when wrapping it around a sofa corner like mine. This is the same type of screw you use to attach the bed surround to the box spring so it doesn't move after you put the mattress on top. With careful handling, the sofa will not be damaged. Decided to buy another.
