Review on πŸ“Έ Fujifilm Instax Mini 70 - ICY Mint Color - Instant Film Camera (ICY Mint) by Durioki Cordaro

SHINES Point and shoot simplicity but less customizable than mini90

Mini90 vs Mini70 - I've had both, here are my impressions. First I bought a mini90, lost it and then got a Mini70 as a replacement. ALSO NO ZOOM. PHOTOS WATERPROOF (washable indeed πŸ™„) Mini90 Pros -1. The power switch is MUCH easier to use (a ring switch on the trigger on the 90m versus a flat, poorly labeled button on the back of the 70m)2. TWO shutters, landscape mode shooting is MUCH less awkward.3. Manual overall exposure/brightness adjustment (but NOT true shutter/iris control)4. Shoulder strap 5. Classic two-tone camera style6. Battery cons -1. bulky2. You MUST play around with the controls to get the exposure right. Still very imprecise science, but especially problematic with night shots (background is underexposed, night selfies often blur foreground with mini90) -------------------- ----Mini70 Pros - 1. more compact (well, FEEL a little smaller in hand)2. Smarter auto exposure for night scenes and selfie mode (still needs to press the mode button for best results)3. Selfie mode (faces in the foreground are less blurred, it's easier to use a selfie mirror) Cons -1. no real exposure control2. no dedicated night portrait mode (better exposes a dark background for night flash photography)3. Black, flat, rubberized keys DO NOT USE IN THE DARK. SUMMARY I'm a hobbyist with a full frame DSLR and some very expensive prime lenses. I hated playing with the Mini90's exposure controls (night portrait, exposure dimming) to take quick selfies, so I appreciate the Mini70's simplicity. I never use Instax for "nice" photos. THE SIMPLICITY of the mini70 TRANSFORMS INTO A FUN CAMERA FOR FAST SHOOTING.

Pros
  • 2 - Cr2 batteries
Cons
  • Doubtful senior purchase
