Flexible use

I mainly want the powered version because I sometimes use 2 external SSDs and an external BluRay on my 2017 MacBook Air. I don't know if a powered hub is required for this, but it can't hurt. I can also use it to charge phones without connecting to a computer. It can be connected to a computer and used without a power supply. Very happy with it. The only downside I have is that the power cord from the adapter is only 4 feet long. Depending on where you put your laptop, this might not be an issue, but it's more of a limitation on where I typically put my laptop.
