They didn't solve the problem but definitely helped contain it!

I have no idea what goes on in other families, but mine seems to have a lot of socks lying around. I don't know what law in the universe has power over our address, but it seems to have decided that matching pairs of socks breaks a law I don't know about. Anyway, my flawed brain won't let me throw out a great sock. First, socks are not cheap. Second, as soon as I throw him away, his assistant inevitably shows up. Third, I'll only replace them in pairs, and as I said, one of them will automatically disappear... so it's a pointless fight. So what do I do with all these incomparable socks? They used to live in a laundry basket that everyone would rummage through until they found two seemingly identical socks. (My kids grew up with this system, so it's no stranger to them.) However, I'm fed up with the bulky laundry basket and the fact that it never has a fixed place (mainly because of its bulk) and is always moving around. As soon as I saw these hanging mesh bags I knew I wanted them. They come in packs of 2 and are likely to be used to store plastic bags. They have a hole in the bottom so they're perfect for that. But that also makes them ideal for storing socks individually! I transferred my kids' stray socks into one and my husband's and myself's socks into another. I hung one bag on a chair that is in the shared dressing table (3 girls...that's one thing in our house) and the other in the closet. HUGE VICTORY! It's mesh, so you can see all the socks inside and figure out which ones you need without having to throw away or rummage through the whole pile. You can access the socks from either end of the bag, it holds a lot of socks and is really well made so it can withstand kids digging in and tossing them around. Surprisingly, they seem to hang it up every time after they're done searching for socks. I love these bags. I think I can buy at least one more set to use in the pantry to actually store the plastic bags we collect. Maybe a few sets... I'm sure I'll find more uses for them along the way.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Sad packaging
