This radio has fairly good FM reception and reasonable AM reception. It still suffers from a decent amount of AM RF interference, but seems to perform better than some of my other pocket analog radios, including the Sony ICF-S10MK2. The controls are a bit clunky and I wish you could move the tuner around a little faster, but once you've got all your favorite stations set to presets it's no longer a problem. To disable them, I proceeded to disable them myself. Took the radio apart and found the LEDs. My original plan was to just unsolder them from the board, but they are placed right below the screen, making this plan more labor intensive than I wanted. Instead, I took a small metal pick and poked/scraped the LEDs until I broke them both. This improves battery life, but not by much I think. I wish the radio would have given you the option to turn off the LEDs, but whatever. Now they are disabled! I would recommend this radio as it has good reception and is very small. Perfect for on the go when you bring at least a fresh set of batteries with you. Disassembly instructions: Pry 2 screws behind the sticker on the back and then pry open the case next to the battery compartment to release some plastic clips. Picking up the device, you'll find the top piece of plastic with the memory buttons and antenna holding everything together. There are more plastic clips there and once the top part is detached the radio can be easily taken apart. Be careful as there are very thin cables between the device and the speaker which are glued to the front of the case. Be careful not to damage them when disassembling the device. There is no need to remove the motherboard to disable the LEDs as they are accessible from the top.
