I am using a MacBook Pro 2018 and an external Samsung.

I'm using a 2018 MacBook Pro and a Samsung T5 external SSD with a USB-C to USB 3 Type-A cable. I needed an adapter to use with my Mac (USB-C ports only). I've noticed that I've lost contact with T5 from time to time. It's a bit confusing when I have multiple VMs that are stopped and then try to start when the disk is no longer visible. I bought this cable so I can have a direct USB-C to USB-C 3.1 connection. No breakup issues since I started this.
