You know what you're getting into when you buy a hand drill, and this one is sure to be the one for you. Pros: Really solid construction: I've drilled a lot of holes and still can't see any deterioration in the drill's construction. Handguards: I found it easier to have one person hit with a hammer while the other holds a drill. Sometimes the hammer's blow doesn't go according to plan, and the rubber surrounding your hand cushions the blow well. Ease of use: It is very easy to use. Hold, score, spin, repeat. Lightweight: Perhaps the biggest benefit is weight. Even with a hammer in tow, I still save a whopping 2-3 kilos compared to a cordless combi drill. I use this primarily for alpine drilling so the weight savings are huge. Cons: Picky: If you don't hit the drill straight vertically, it won't work properly and you could end up with a messy hole. Time: It takes a little longer to drill a hole than with an electric hammer drill. Fatigue: Your hand tends to tire with prolonged use. All these disadvantages stem from the fact that it is a HAND DRILL. You know what you're getting and if that suits you then this is a great option.
