My FIL is a very, very heavy bib (imagine the whole pillow being covered in white/yellow patches). I'm just tired of having to remove stains from pillows because they're not as easy to clean as a pillowcase or pillowcase. You can only treat stains on the surface of the pillow, but to remove saliva that has penetrated deep into the pillow the entire pillow needs to be soaked in Oxiclean/Hydrogen Peroxide. That's a lot of wasted stain remover, plus I don't have room to soak some pillows overnight. I received these Niagara Sleep Solution Waterproof Pads on February 21st, 2020 when they were available from Revain WarehouseDeals. It seemed like a good deal because there are 4 in a pack, not 2 from other brands. I wanted to limit the drool stains to just the pillowcase and pillow. I thought it would be more convenient than vinyl covers. And that. It's soft and doesn't feel plastic when I lay my head on it. Hydrogen peroxide is really good for treating/staining biological stains (saliva, blood) so I pre-treat saliva stains before putting pillowcases in the washing machine. The pre-treatment is carried out when there are no more bubbles and/or when the stain has disappeared. I wash them in the washing machine with hot water but just hang them up to dry. The seams are taped which is good. I bought a pair of pillowcases that have raw edges at the seams. When buying from a hardware store, I take the protective cover out of the box to make sure the seams are tight. To test if it's truly waterproof, I put a tissue underneath and then poured water on the outside of the protective case. . The water didn't go through. The fabric stayed dry.
