Review on Wii Zapper: Master Link's Crossbow Training with the Official Accessory by Michael Barrett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's not bad for the price, but it also needs some tweaking

The game itself is decent enough, with a good selection of modes and backgrounds. This is a good 20-40 minute time killer instead of sitting down and playing all day. My 4 and 6 year olds might feel differently because they like it (although their hit rate isn't very good, which doesn't bother them). Out of the 3 main game modes offered, the traditional pop-up shooter mode and the defender mode are the best. The third mode is to use the nunchaku and try to move the character, which doesn't seem natural to me. But for what is basically a $10 game, it's actually pretty decent. The zapper you spend the other $10 on is fine too. I agree that I'd rather program the Z button on the nunchuck as the trigger and the B button on the controller as the zoom. Maybe I can change them, but did not understand how in the package in the game. It would be much more natural to install it that way. However, it seems so, and you can learn to use a different finger. Another downside is setting the gun to aim at what you want, it's so-so. I'm 6ft 3in and when I stand and try to hold it like a gun the controller points too far for the sensor to hit the screen regardless of the setting. To get it, I have to be right in front of the TV. or sit across from him. So it's doable, I just can't play standing up. There is definitely room for improvement, but overall I agree with what I got for the price paid. The kids love it and I love it and would buy it again.
