Review on πŸ‘Ÿ Enhance Your Performance with Bloch Women's Performa Athletic Dance Theatrical Shoes by Misty Gomez

Light and strong, but WIDE

TL;DR: Extremely light. No pressure points. The fit is very different from Pro-Elastic and Synchrony: The forefoot is unusually wide. The canvas feels brittle and unrolls quickly, but is more durable than expected. The edges on the heels are less "finished" than on more expensive models, but I don't notice them when I'm dancing. Accidentally machine wash and dry my pair of tans and tumble dry (on low) and it held up perfectly so that seems fine too. (NOT recommended) Just a word of caution: I'm a male and like most flats these will fit dancers of any gender. I have no idea if Bloch uses a female last in her creation, but for most dancers it doesn't matter. Find your European shoe size and order accordingly, knowing the toe is [ [WIDE] ]. I recently needed a pair of white shoes for a STAT show and also burned my last pair of SoDanca SD16s in the fenders with no spare pair (I seriously thought I had them!) and needed training shoes ASAP. All the styles I usually wear were sold out in my size, so I decided to try these guys. When they arrived I definitely had my doubts. They're light and thin to an almost ridiculous extent (read: I honestly found them thin) and I wasn't sure how they would hold up. It turns out they actually hold up better than I expected, but they fit. something strange. I wear EU size 39 or 40, so I ordered them in a 7.5 standard width (I think B?). They are strangely wide, especially in the toe area. Therefore, especially in combination with tights, they sometimes feel very crooked, which can make turning and balance difficult. Pair them with sleek tights and it might not look like they're trying to cling to your legs. I trimmed the elastics on a white pair I bought for the show and it helped a bit, although the toe was still looser than ideal. A little rosin inside would probably help (I didn't want to incur the ire of a customer of my company by staining brand new company tights). If I compete in these shoes again, I plan to bring some grip spray and hit them with it. The "sloppiness" of the seating resulted in a slip that the audience didn't seem to notice, but I cared (I was center stage and doing an arabesque turn into a static pose, so I felt like I was wrecking everything^^ -^'). I wear a brown pair to class and rehearsals every day. As the weather was chilly I appreciated the extra space that allowed me to wear SmartWool socks with them (especially in the mornings my feet take a long time to warm up!) and as I don't usually wear tights to class/rehearsal, they are less likely to slip under my feet. . The screen rolls significantly underfoot. I haven't noticed this in any other stretch fabric shoe I've tried, so I suspect it has to do with the fiber blend that makes the Performa so light. This didn't turn out to be a problem as the pills aren't big enough or hard enough to interfere with anything. There doesn't seem to be any sign of the holes popping up yet and the suede patches and lining remain intact. It usually takes me 6 to 8 weeks to completely kill a pair of stretch canvas sneakers and they hold up amazingly. Spring. If they prove more durable than my usual options, I might consider continuing to use them for classes, rehearsals, and performances that don't require shiny tights.
