IGNORE ALL PREVIOUS COMMENTS ON THIS PRODUCT PRIOR TO JANUARY 1ST 2014. TITLE OR SKU NUMBER (which I think was a stupid move not to change the name ). The difference with the new version lies in the "cradle" or the part where your phone comes in. I will list the new stand and the old stand. New stand: It CAN work with an iPhone 6 Plus and can probably hold ANY phone ever made as the side grips on each side are a quarter inch wider than my iPhone 6+. The wen is fully open. Any iPhone can do that, I know for a fact, and probably any Android. The only thing I don't know is the MINIMUM grip width, but I will say that it probably doesn't fit the old indestructible thin Nokia phones. outwards slowly and at the same time (when they are hydraulically powered) which is really cool, they just lack that "tssss" sound :P Then you have to manually push the grips back on the phone. They have a "lip" on the end of the grips to keep your phone from falling out. The grips also have foam on the part that touches the sides of your phone to "hold" your phone in place. The underside of the stand that your phone "sits" on folds back against the stand so the only thing holding your phone is the grips (that's up to you, of course). By the way, the old stand and the new stand are interchangeable because the old base (suction cup) and the new base are exactly the same. Just for your information. Old Bassinet: They no longer sell the old style bassinet on Amazon, but let's just say the old bassinet sucked. You had to "manually" adjust the position of the stand depending on the size of your phone. There are 3 grooves on either side of the back of the stand and the plastic grips that hold your phone slide into these grooves and you can slide them closer or further apart based on the groove depending on the size of your phone. If your phone was larger, smaller, or in between these groove sizes, you're out of luck. The "base" or suction cup part: This is the only part of the mGrip that is exactly the same as the old version (they may have changed the innards, I don't know). The suction cup attaches to your window and there is a latch that you "ratchet" down to ensure the suction cup REALLY sticks to the glass. There is a button on the front of the base that you press to release the "ratchet" tension so the suction cup can be removed. So if you remember to snap it in place, it won't come loose. I've gone over 6 months without a suction cup coming off my windshield so it's AWESOME in that regard. They may have redesigned the internals to prevent this from happening again, I don't know) but when I pushed the button to release the ratchet on the suction cup in 2012, the button/base/ratchet mechanism broke and I did had to buy a new version (should have called the warranty but forgot), this shortcoming can now be fixed. I haven't encountered this disadvantage since, but now I know exactly where the button is and how hard to press it to release the ratchet.
