Review on SNOWFOX Double Wall Insulated Stainless Steel by Shawn Jimenez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A very durable insulated shaker that looks and works fantastic!

Having been making cocktails for a while, my trusty shaker was starting to show its age and signs of use, so I decided to look for an update. Looking at many shakers it seemed like they all have a similar design and nothing drew me in. Then I came across the Double Wall Snowfox Shaker. Being familiar with the double-walled bottles in my Hydroflask coffee mug, I was both surprised and intrigued that this technology was implemented in a shaker. Looking at the colors and designs, I found one that really caught my eye and decided to place an order. When I unpacked my Snowfox shaker I was very impressed with its quality and workmanship. I chose the gold color of the shaker and everything except the stainless steel lid has been painted a nice shade. However, the instructions say to wash by hand only and not in a bowl to prolong the life of the finish. As with my other shakers, knives, and other kitchen essentials, hand washing/drying is pretty standard. What I didn't expect was the tightness of the shaker. While most shakers have a lid and cap that can be put on at the same time, thanks to the silicone gasket (more on that below), Snowfox seals so well that you have to put the lid on first and then the cap. While this is a very small detail and adjustment, it seems worth mentioning as it's slightly different from every other shaker I've used. This silicone seal on top of the shaker body makes it a bit difficult to remove the lid and put it on the shaker. However, the result is a truly leak-proof shaker that I could hold upside down with one hand without worrying about the lid slipping, leaking, or falling apart. When making cocktails in small batches, this isn't an issue and I prefer the security that the added pressure provides. In a commercial setting, however, it's possible to get a little familiar with a shaker before using it during a busy happy hour or peak weekend. One of my favorite features of this shaker is what drew me in in the first place. - double-walled construction. For those unfamiliar with double-walled bottles (and shakers), there are two layers of metal separated by a sealed space. It makes a few things functional. First, this design insulates the interior, keeping hot items warm and cold items cold. When mixing cocktails on a hot summer day or in warmer conditions, the cocktail stays colder and the melting process slows (but doesn't stop). Another feature of the double-walled design that I like is that the insulation keeps the outside of the shaker from "fogging up", icing on the outside, or even feeling noticeably cold when shaking the cocktail. It was a really nice feel good factor, no fear of cold hands. Overall, I'm just in love with this shaker! The only thing I didn't expect was the very tight fit caused by the silicone padding around the case, which of course was an adjustment at first. However, as mentioned earlier, the benefits of this are worth it. I am very impressed with the Snowfox shaker and this version costs $39.99 which is an incredible value.
