USB ports and remote stopped working after a few weeks. Beware!

I bought this unit to adapt to my work and home PC - I have a fairly standard keyboard/mouse/webcam. About a week ago the remote stopped working - it's on, but pressing the button doesn't do anything. I've tried troubleshooting by trying different cables and turning the device on, but the remote control no longer works. This morning I went to my usual morning meeting on a scale and my webcam stopped working. I tried both USB ports on the front of the KVM switch, but neither recognized the webcam. I unplugged it from KVM and plugged it directly into my workstation and it worked and the webcam worked again. Carefully! This KVM will eventually stop working.
