I decided to take a chance after reading Max's review as well as a number of other reviews that were positive, and I have never once regretted doing so. Although they are pricey (10t), I believe that the money spent is well justified. The construction quality is excellent. There is no backlash, and there is metal and excellent plastic everywhere (whereas my Sony MDR-XB950 started creaking after a month) (unlike the Razer Kraken). I purchased some velour ear pads to replace the leather ones that came with the headphones (the leather ones are nice and really comfy, but I have to wear these headphones for eight hours a day at work, so I get tired of sitting in them). The sound card is the most common component, and its capabilities are sufficient. The buttons are easy to use and are of a good size; the only thing that is unclear is where the button to mute the microphone is situated; it is on the side and is not immediately evident. Despite the fact that I do it unconsciously at this point, press it. The sound is really excellent, there are no smears, squeaks, or hums (on Razer, it's just awful), but I don't hear any bass. Despite this, it's likely that things will only become worse in the games. Virtual 7.1 exists solely for marketing purposes. It is generally not recommended for use with music, and I did not particularly enjoy its use in films. In video games, however, it only causes interference. It does not interfere, which is perfectly acceptable. But, the quality of the microphone is subpar. It is quiet, but the quality is great, and any unnecessary noise is filtered out very effectively; it is the best headset I've heard of all the ones I've tried. Even after turning all of the volume knobs to their highest settings, I still need two more levels of amplification before anyone can hear me normally. In addition to that, it is ENORMOUS and remains in plain view at all times, which can be a little distracting. And I have no idea how long he will continue to survive. According to a buddy who works at SteelSeries, such a design didn't last more than six months there. In any event, it is replaceable and can be eliminated entirely if desired. In general, if not the greatest headset on the market, but certainly one of the top headsets currently available. Everything is done with great care, and the hats have a comfortable fit on the head as well as a pleasing appearance and materials. Here on the fan, but I thought it was quite cool. The microphone was generally surprising, but the fact that it is quiet can easily be corrected by software amplification. The sound is significantly superior to that of the Razer Kraken and the SteelSeries v2. Let them be a little more expensive than the competition, but they are worth it. I was able to watch movies and listen to music in them without any problems (and hello Razer again, damn, they are miserable in everything). We wholeheartedly endorse this.
