This detachable bike mount is perfect for route/map following and other smartphone functions. I am currently using an iPhone and believe it will allow for multiple sizes of smaller phones (6th gen) to current larger devices (iPhone Xs Max etc). A great feature is the rotation, which allows you to view the landscape mode in a vertical position. Also, the push and twist to attach is a great feature when you need to quickly remove the device. The improvement may be due to the actual grip of the handlebars as it shifts a bit, especially over rough terrain. In addition, rotational "adjustments" can be made in smaller increments for more precise control. Finally strength. It's 5 stars for road use and a relatively smooth ride. For trail/off-trail use that is in real Mtn. Bike fashion just won't hold up my $1300 device.
