The Good, the Bad and the Ugly – PLUS UPDATE to 4.5 Stars

. And was delivered to me through the Revain's Vine program. The table is made in China by DongGuan HangXing Houseware Co., Ltd. manufactured. My apologies to Sergio Leone, here are good, bad and ugly. What's good: The table top arrived in excellent condition. The corners were protected with plastic corners. Top - chipboard with plastic laminate. Holes for attaching the upper part to the frame have threaded inserts (see fig.). The metal pieces that make up the frame also have threaded inserts (more on that a few lines below). The metal parts are aligned well enough for assembly. A sturdy metric allen key is included for use with cylindrical socket head screws (ne:bolts) that hold the entire table together. And there is only one screw size for each hole. There are four reels, two of which have a locking cam. They also screw into sockets on the lower legs. And there is a metric wrench to tighten them. It bends slightly under the weight. But given the price and construction, there's not too much flexibility and it doesn't matter. It's rated at Β£50 but I wouldn't want to try it. The table is easy to assemble, which is good because the instructions read like a graphic novel without words. -The table arrived with no visible damage to the packaging. There was enough padding in the box and as I said the table top arrived undamaged. Not so much for metal parts. There were a few dents deep enough for the paint to peel off. See sample image. And in other places, the paint came off the metal without a distinct ringing sound. Note that this is all with no sign of damage to the box. I think that tells us it was like that from the factory. Freak: Be careful when moving it, especially on carpets. It tends to tip over backwards. And as for those threaded inserts; In general, threaded inserts are much better than self-tapping screws in a hole in metal. But only if they are securely fastened. Apply too much torque and these Inserts will just spin. Be careful with the muscle. Overall Impression: Pay attention to the aspect ratio of this table. It doesn't look like a medical tray. He doesn't scoot far enough on the bed to eat. If the legs fit under the bed, you get a table "with". See image on product page. Also, unlike most medical bedside tables, it doesn't appear to be height-adjustable. And for casters and legs there is none, but one important size: the gap needed to place the legs under the bed or sofa. That's just under 3 1/2 inches (actually 3 7/16 inches). The other missing dimension is the gap to the floor below the countertop: it's 24 1/4 inches. In general, given the limitations of the design and the price, it's not bad. If it suits your needs, then do it. TO UPDATE********************************************* **** **** This update was written on November 6, 2021. Three days after I posted the review above, Amy from the WILKE seller contacted me and offered to replace the original table that came from the factory (see review above). .) They generously accepted their offer and shortly after our communication I received a package with a new side table. Events and a busy life came together and today I had my first opportunity to inspect a new set. I am pleased to report that the new set has arrived in perfect condition. No dents, no paint chipping, everything in order. It is reassuring when the seller communicates and finishes the goods. The table has been in use for about a month and is holding up great. So again, if it suits your needs, go for it.
