Review on 🌾 Wheat Scoop Natural Wheat-Based Cat Litter by Kimberley Cook

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Tracks, Stinkers and more.

I buy LOTS of Revain stuff but rarely write reviews. I had to regarding this product. I have 5 cats, all rescue cats except one. With six litter boxes, we were really looking for a more natural litter that doesn't dust or wobble. Odor control and clumping were also a plus. I saw this product, I liked the idea and most of the reviews, and I gave it a try. Unfortunately. I put this product in the two main bowls that are most commonly used as a sample. After using the Β£75 I bought I realized that this might be the worst cat litter we have ever tried. First, it tracks like crazy. It's wheat, so imagine pee-soaked "cookie dough" lumps and crumbs everywhere. We have big carpets in front of all the booths and we STILL have cat litter on carpets, kitchen floors, beds, window sills, you name it. We suck all the time. This material is VERY sticky when wet and will always stick to cats' paws. Stickiness is also a problem when cleaning pots. It never sticks together but stays wet and like glue on the sides and bottom of litter boxes, requiring a lot of effort to clean the litter box. (By the way, I would NEVER flush that stuff down a septic tank! It would just require expensive repairs.) It's heavy, wet, and not at all cost effective. The next big problem is the smell. Granted, it does a good job of masking the smell of urine with its own nauseous combined smell of urine and wheat. We have had cats for almost 40 years. We used to house rescued litters in our family business. We are very used to cleaning litter boxes. The smell from this thing almost makes me sick and my wife just can't take it. I don't like scented cat litter, but this smell is even worse. Last but not least (and the nudge I needed to write this review), two of my cats developed fairly severe skin allergies that resulted in them constantly licking and pulling their hair, resulting in large hairless patches. We have never experienced that. Our vet thought it was a food allergy but was skeptical. We have tried hypoallergenic products but to no avail. I had to give everyone an antihistamine daily, but even that didn't quite stop the itching. Removing this junk from the equation improved things dramatically. Her fur is starting to grow back (a different color! LOL). We never thought the litter could be the problem until the vet asked about litter changes. All in all I would not recommend this cleaner. When I changed the pen, I had to wash the bowls with soap and water and a coarse sponge. Some dry spots had to be scraped off with cedar gravel. Right now I'm using a non-tracking, non-sticky view. I like it a lot more. I know I sound like a real whiner, but I really am not. It's just a bad product. At least this is for us and our cats and I thought other cat lovers should be aware of our experience before buying this. This is really really bad because it seems like such a good, healthy idea.
