For those wanting to try the Artisan Hien ($60 mousepad, limited availability) or just want a faster hybrid mousepad, this does the job Razer Strider excellent job very few compromises - if any! As a long-time owner of the Hien Soft (and countless other hybrid pads), the $30 Strider surprised me a bit. The texture of the Strider is almost the same; Some might say it's rougher, but honestly, that's how they feel when using it. It might be a bit faster than Hien Soft, new out of the box, but I'd say it's slower than Hien Mid, especially when you're mouse clicking (I tried the Mid a few months ago). What really glitters? Strider has stitched edges compared to traditional pads. The Strider's stitched edges are ALMOST flush with the tread. This means your hand won't get confused by the raised rim, and if your mouse exceeds the pad's dimensions, it won't experience a sudden jolt or stop. The rubber base can't compete with the artisans (they have almost a suction cup like foam), but it does the job. The great thing is that the tablet is practically flat, so it stays flat on the table and doesn't get in the way of long swipes on the edges. For the price, that's not a problem, even if you consider yourself well old-fashioned. QCK or GSR is all you need. This will surely be a great change of pace for the average consumer, or just a curiosity gratification (and surprise!) for crafting enthusiasts like me.
