I needed a new monitor for photo editing (high-end hobbyist) and my old Sony Trinitron CRT eventually broke. So far I am very satisfied with my first LCD monitor. I chose this one after doing a lot of research and weighing tradeoffs and pricing. Its strength is the excellent sharpness. The contrast is good. Like most LCDs, it lacks the ability to distinguish between the darkest hues (0/255) through (5/255). Out of the box, white and gray tones had a very slight green cast. But that was quickly remedied with the initial settings. The overall image quality is significantly better than the Trinitron CRT. It arrived with far more cables than I will ever need. And no dead pixels!
