I am a snowmobiler and use them to protect my socks and boots when getting in and out of the snowmobile while riding the trail. Such work makes it difficult to use heavy snowmobile boots. Wear them over your favorite work boots and you're protected. They do their job well, but I'm not sure the gaiters will work for every snow situation. Sometimes, due to the specifics of your activity, high-top boots will suffice. They're quite well made, with excellent side velcro straps and a reasonable heel strap. You have to undo and undo the top clasp to take them out and put them back in when you put them back on. There is a small metal hook to hook the laces to keep them in place. Overall I'm happy with the purchase for the use I'm giving them. Best of all, they allow you to use a smaller, lighter shoe while still providing some snow protection in your shoes and socks.
