As a thick sweater lover who started hiking during the pandemic, I was looking for a winter jacket that was warm enough without being too bulky . Bought this on a whim (and at an amazing Cyber Monday deal) intrigued by the idea of a lighter weight yet warm winter jacket designed specifically for hiking. but was admittedly skeptical about reflective heat technology. Well, after the first real test of this jacket on December 16, 2020, I am convinced that it fits my needs perfectly! Wearing only a light, sweat-wicking, long-sleeved shirt, I walked for about an hour in real winter conditions—light snowfall, strong winds, 27-degree air temp, and 20-degree cold wind—and felt the jacket really warm up. and get my work done while my body temperature rose. I will say that it is a good idea to wear the jacket indoors for a while before going out in such cold conditions so that it is already warm when you go outside. But it's worth skipping a thick winter coat or moisture-wicking down jacket when the weather is cold outside. This jacket is well worth its full price, not to mention the rare Revain discount.
