I used to accidentally order a large one and give it away. Got XL this time and it works great. With my 40 inch waist I have about 6 inches left which extends to the first belt loop and then to my own elastic belt loop. It really fits into the belt loops of TruSpec and Propper tactical pants and holds their waistband in place. The 1.5" propper belt that came with my propper pants is too tight and reveals my Donelop disease too easily, but not this 1.75" TruSpec belt! The buckle held tight on the first try and never slipped after a long day of climbing ladders, pulling pallets, lifting boxes, and sitting and kneeling on the floor to assemble furniture. I hang a 1 liter water bottle, phone pouch, glove hook, and multi-tool pouch on it, and it never sags or slips off my belt. You just have to pull it on very, very gently.
