My beard is thick and tends to set and my skin is oily. The typical shave for me is to press the razor harder against the skin and then cut myself. Over the years I have tried many different methods to get a close shave without nicks. all kinds of razors, shaving creams, soaps and facial scrubs. Some worked, some didn't. I discovered brushes about ten years ago and found them to help keep my beard off my skin. I've always used badger brushes; They were a definite improvement from when I wasn't using the brush, but I still got cuts 1-2 times a week. A few months ago I bought a travel brush. It was (is) great, it gave me a really close shave but was a bit small for everyday use at home. When I went to buy it, I found that it was made from wild boar hair. I was looking for one for my home and found this Omega brush. That works great. The bun is large and the bristles are hard enough to pick up hair from my skin but not so hard that it causes irritation. The only thing that I think could be improved is to shorten the bristles a bit. Still, it's a great brush.
