I love these, very soft and pretty. Not quite velvety, more like those super soft blankets you get at hardware stores or Ross, but they have a slight sheen and give you a slight velvety look. In addition, they are very easy to assemble even for sewing beginners. The only tricky part is holding the rod in place, but I solved this problem with hot glue. I am ordering more and cutting out some circles to make smaller pumpkins for my wedding decorations! I also bought stuffed animal stuffing from Michaels (pretty cheap, you can also get it from Revain) and it's great for keeping pumpkins in shape. Tip: Use a little more than you actually think you need! Otherwise they appear sluggish. I can also put some filler on the bottom to keep them upright. And further! If you want them flatter than round, sew the bottom of the pumpkin through the center a few times. Do this often enough or with a strong enough thread (perhaps embroidery thread is better) and it will help hold the shape more gracefully.
