The light is superb and very bright. I haven't used it long enough to see how my plants are doing but it's a golden, cool tone (of course it could be brighter , but I am currently using a medication that turns the water slightly yellow). I'll see if they let me post a photo later when I'm done with the treatment. I just realized I need to go home and look at my feet in the light. They appear to be adjustable and should be removable. I'm not sure because it didn't look like it when I was home. As soon as I find out I will update this. * Update! Finally I can play with my feet. Gently push the leg sideways to loosen the excess plastic piece. The only part of these legs I don't like is that they can't be tightened and attached to real light. You just squeeze them tight, but it really doesn't matter much. I usually just flick my flashlight back and forth from time to time and they really don't move much. It only helps to keep the lamp above the tank. The little buttons are useless if you take your foot off and do nothing so I just removed them as they can only be used if you are using both feet. The light is nice and bright, which is great! I'll update in a few weeks once my plants are up and running and tell you how they did it. Update: My wisteria and my other plants seem to be growing great! It was REALLY bright. My discus were a bit unnerved by this so I had to figure out how to hang them. I ended up buying some PVC pipes and built a stand to hang them. I found thin aluminum rods in the Hobby Lobby, bent them into a V shape, stuck them in the leg holes, and folded them together to make a coat hanger of sorts; I used a chain and some carabiners to hang it up. Here is a link showing you how to make a hanging kit (rods only). It's made from 3/32 aluminum rods and the material bends into the shape you want very easily and you just stick it into the light. If you don't see the link just type in the Beachbum 2012 Finnex Ray II Trailer Kit and you will likely find a link on the Planted Tank website showing how to hang this light. http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/showthread.php?t=197311
