Has a short circuit and keeps disconnecting and connecting

I had no problems with this splitter the first time I bought it so I bought a second one after I dropped my laptop causing the splitter cable to disconnect from the unit. That second brought me nothing but sorrow. The slightest movement of my laptop on my desk will disconnect and reconnect. Sometimes the laptop doesn't even move, but I can hear noises from the splitter when disconnecting/reconnecting. It is very frustrating when my wireless mouse keeps stopping during use.
