Review on πŸ“ Raspberry Spellbinders Grand Calibur Spacer Plate, 8.5x12-Inch by Lori Aguirre

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is necessary if you are using embossing folders, but be careful there are NOT two in the box (as in the picture).

I switched from Cuttlebug to the Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine because I have some large embossing folders and large dies that don't fit Cuttlebug. I don't know why there are two plates in the picture as there is only one plate in the box. It is 8 1/2 by 12 inches. It is designed for use in the Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine. To be honest I'm not sure why Spellbinders doesn't put this plate in the box when you buy a Grand Calibur machine as I assume most people use embossing folders in addition to die cutting. I don't currently have Spellbinders M-Bossabilities embossing folders, but I have several other types of embossing folders (Cuttlebug, Darice, Paper Studio, and Close to My Heart) and they all work very well with this plate. My only complaint is that according to the Spellbinders instructions, they say that to emboss binders, you have to put the pink embossing plate on the bottom, then the binder, and on top of that purple divider plate. It's not thick enough for my car, it just slides. I'm sure you could use some sort of spacer, but for me I've found that attaching a white cutting board to the bottom instead of a pink board works well. You REALLY need this plate if you're going to do any type of binder embossing. I tried all possible combinations with the machine plates that came with it and everything was just too thick to go through the machine. I also love the color purple, it's easy to spot on my very messy desk!

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Crumpled

Perfect for embelishing plates on my Spellbinders Grandcalibur.
