Fantastic upgrade to our Collaroo beds for our 15 year old arthritic pet and new GSP puppy! Smooth surface made of durable steel! I really wasted too much time buying it initially as this is obviously a copy of Luranda's original design, but the build of Veehoo is a 'significant upgrade' over other brands, worth considering...the Surface. Since this brand doesn't offer a mattress topper, I bought an alternative crib from K&H Pets. K&H has a fake version of this bed, but their fleece pillow goes well with Veehoo; fits perfectly!
