Bought primarily for use as a newborn bedside cot and hope to use for travel in the future. I didn't want to spend a lot of money just on a "cradle" that I would only use for 3-4 months (why are cradles so expensive!?). It's smaller than a Pack and Play but larger than the hand tote I used for my first one. Although I like the extra space. This is not a low cradle like the ones that can easily be turned over and the baby picked up. But when I'm lying in bed, my eye level is right on the edges of the mesh, so I can see the baby clearly. The only complaint, and this isn't even a complaint, just a comment. I had a c-section so it would be easier for a mother with a section to roll onto a lower traditional bassinet in the middle of the night and pick up the baby to feed, but I'm on my 5th day postpartum and doing well, and so far the extra space allows me to hide a few midnight essentials like tissues and a burp cloth for those midnight feedings. Hot tip from other reviewers - use zippered queen size pillowcases as slipcovers.
