Review on Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3: 15.6 Inch AMD Ryzen Gaming Laptop with RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 by Ba Li ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

What you need, a cool purchase, I advise you.

I am writing about the configuration of Ryzen 7 4800H + GTX 1650 Ti + 16 GB RAM. I bought a laptop mainly for programming and multimedia work (Video editing in Vegas or music in FL Studio) and for playing in my free time. He copes with all his main tasks with a bang. In games (Far cry 5 or hitman 2), the video card heated up to a maximum of 79 degrees (In rare cases, up to ~ 83). The processor heated up to a maximum of 88 degrees during video rendering. I recommend installing the “Ryzen Controller” utility (available for Windows and Linux) and limiting TDP to 19-27W during games. Windows did not install from the first one (20h2), I had to find an older image of Windows and roll it first, and then upgrade to 20h2 I also noticed that FnLock did not light up when activated, when asked on the forum, I was recommended to install “LenovoUtility” from the Microsoft Store, this solved the problem With Ubuntu, the situation is as follows - I installed 202022 without any problems (Ubuntu 20.04 hung when I clicked on the “try ubuntu” button). Also, the touchpad does not work out of the box for Ubuntu, it seems that special drivers are needed. Speakers, as well as a webcam at the usual level (There is a nice bonus from lenovo in the form of Dolby Atmos on Windows 10) Cooling on a laptop is implemented as follows - basically the air comes out from under the display and the grille on the right. The battery works well, it takes about 30% per hour of work with documents and an open browser (Windows 10). I would also like to add that if there is no connection to the power supply, you cannot activate “Performance Mode”. (Because of what, for example, FPS in games is divided by 2) A little about the insides - here is m.2 ssd (2242) Hynix HFM512GDHTNI-87A0B (CrystalDiskMark test will stick with a picture) Two Kingston LV32D4S2S8HD-8 sticks act as RAM Wifi/Bluetooth adapter here Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174, Ethernet - Gigabit Realtek RTL8168/8111 I added an additional Sata SSD via the included adapter.

Pros
  • -Affordable price -Simple Design (I liked the blue version) -Physical webcam overlap😊 -Comfortable keyboard with good backlighting and shortcuts (F and J are dedicated for touch typing) The backlight has three modes of operation - Off, 50% and 100% brightness -120 Hz IPS matrix - Good cooling system management -There is additional space for installing an additional sata or m.2 drive (Included is a cable to sata and 4 screws) -Good software Lenovo Vantage -Easy to disassemble (The most difficult moment is to pick up the first latch, then everything goes like clockwork) - It turned out to be quite light, only 2 kilograms -Passing the “macbook test” (Opening the display with one hand) :D (Also has an auto power off feature when opening the lid, which can be disabled in BIOS/EFI) -Bios / EFI itself here it is implemented well, it is possible to load a legacy boot and you can also change some additional ones. options.
Cons
  • -USB-C port is not a thunderbolt, I would really like to see it here (Well, or at least they made it possible to charge from USB-C) -There is no normal manual, it is not clear how to activate some shortcuts or what lenovo software needs to be installed -The touchpad itself is comfortable, but the buttons are just terrible, since you can use multi-touch gestures (To be honest, I would prefer to remove them altogether) - The case is quite easily soiled - only 3 USB ports (2 USB-A and 1 USB-C), no microphone hole and no SD card reader - With a powerful load, an unpleasant sound comes out at the power connector (And the power supply itself heats up well) -It's still better to limit the TDP for the processor, as sometimes it heats up to ~ 90

Its pros: The stuffing is so top for your money. Has cons: Screen. The ryzen 4800h can't handle the cooling. Charger.

Its pros: The order was delivered on time. They offered to bring it earlier, but I could not because of work. Well packaged, no damage, everything works well. Worthy for your money. Its cons: No deficiencies have been identified so far. If anything changes, I'll write.
