These boots are not meant to be warm. You are not isolated. However, they provide protection for your puppies' feet from cold snow, wet or uneven ground. My dog made the initial walk fun and put his paws in the air when first put on. Next time she patiently waited for me to put them on. At that point I think she looked like her mother again? (Because we didn't leave the house the first day). When we got out, she walked a little clumsily at first, but jumped into the car with no problem. After we got to the mountain, she walked very slowly over the ice on the way to the trailhead to get used to her. As soon as we got into the snow, she became restless and her gait normalized. She looked at me like this: "I understand the boots mom! Thanks!" And we continued the hike. It took her a while to realize that they wouldn't keep her above the fluffy snow and she drowned (which in turn allows the snow to get in). We'll try her again during of the upcoming spring migration. Her paws are very light and she doesn't seem to do well without protection if she goes for longer than a normal walk.
