Ideal as a trim kit for a Google Nest thermostat.

Was looking for a cover kit for a Google Nest thermostat. Ugly is the decorative set of the manufacturer. Custom trim kits are very good but expensive. I found this device with a 50% discount. And it works great as a trim kit. It covers up holes in the wall from the old thermostat so I didn't have to repaint where I patched the wall. The Nest Thermostat fits very well where the letter 'O' is in the house. I had to drill holes in the metal so I could attach the thermostat socket bracket to the block. You can also cut out the decorative part of the "O" if you'd like, but I found it pretty easy to just use a drill for the holes. Start with a small bit for the starting hole, then use a larger bit (the same size as the screw) to get the perfect hole. I also drilled holes slightly to the left or right of the center of the decorative piece (see 2nd image) to keep the metal intact and provide a good mount for the nest thermostat rather than just hollow wall anchors. I used the screws that came with the Google socket, but if you have thinner screws you should be able to use those without having to drill holes in the shield. But overall, $7.50 for a custom fairing kit was a lot compared to $30-$200.
