Review on Exploring the Toughness of the G-Shock GG-1000: Features, Reviews, and More by Jerry Gonzalez

Great value for money in a sturdy watch

I have owned a G-Shock watch for many years and this is my first analogue version. It's a big watch, but the light weight negates its size. Buy this if you need a watch for working out, hiking, working with power tools, etc. It's not made for the boardroom or suit and tie, but for people who can work with their hands and be rough on the clock. Two reasons. Four stars: Casio should have used a sapphire crystal in this case. Sapphire isn't much larger than mineral crystal, and people are happy to pay the difference for added scratch protection, although well-recessed glass helps protect. Another reason is a poorly designed night light. The night light does not illuminate the LCD panels in any way, only the hands. The hand light should be used for low light viewing and any backlight should be designed to allow the user to see the LCD displays. In any case, unless you're in good light or shine a flashlight on your watch when it's dark, you won't be able to see the LCD panels at all. A big mistake on Casio's part, hopefully they will fix it in future releases. Plus, it's great value for a durable watch that you can wear when you don't feel like babysitting your watch.
