I was looking for a shoe for icy slopes, not snowshoes. I wanted something that would keep me from slipping when going up and down hills and also from slipping my boots on level ground. I also wanted something sturdy enough to be easily pulled over boots. I ordered Greatever ice cramps after reading some positive reviews. They looked intimidating when they arrived but they were easy to put on as there is branding on the back and the rubber part is soft and flexible. My test run was a snowy, steep hill at a local park, and they performed well. A week later, I went on a longer hike with a friend through well-trodden snowy trails. We were walking, talking, when suddenly I found myself stretched out on the floor. It took me a while to figure out what had happened - I wasn't looking where I was stepping and accidentally caught one cat on another's side chain! Luckily I wasn't hurt when the snow softened my fall but I realized I need to be more aware that this could happen again, at least until I get more time in ice boots on the track. I recommend this product and advised my husband to get a pair as well. They come with a small carry case which was a pleasant surprise.
