KZ ZS10: Genres I listen to: Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, AcousticFirst impression: The KZ ZS10 are beautiful headphones. I personally went for red and black, but the blue ones are also very nice. At this price one rarely finds 4 balanced drivers and 1 dynamic driver in IEM. The braided cable is also a nice touch. I started by looking at some of the songs I usually listen to the most, but I'll get to that later. Fit/Insulation: The KZ ZS10 is actually extremely comfortable. They come with the usual small, medium, and large rubber tips. I always use the smallest available and so far they have been great. I'm hoping to try Comply's foam tips on them but I don't have any at the moment. At the gym, they certainly stayed in the ears throughout the workout. As for the insulation, it adequately blocks the noise. At home, I can barely hear the sound of a mechanical keyboard while typing this. At the gym, I was also able to easily block out distractions without turning the volume up too loud. Sound: I tested the KZ ZS10 on both my computer, which consists only of a red dragonfly, and on my iPhone 8+. My ears have a love/hate relationship with bass because headphones often focus on bass volume rather than quality. However, I'm happy to say that these headphones have quality bass that sounds punchy without overwhelming the rest of the track. The vocals are surprisingly clear for the price. Finally, to separate each individual voice and each instrument, they are separated from each other and can be heard without tension. It's easy for the highs to be an afterthought, and as a result the highs sound "muffled". Again, these IEMs do not disappoint or suffer from this problem. Comparisons: Shozy Zero: As far as I can remember, Shozy Zero suffered a lot from the mic, in my opinion, and it became quite annoying when walking. The KZ ZS10 has almost no microphone and it remains invisible to me. Another comparison between the two is that Shozy is definitely warmer and good at low frequencies. The mids and highs can vary depending on the source, however, and I feel the KZ ZS10 is more consistent across sources. CIEM (JH16): These are my current headphones that I usually use at my desk. Considering the JH16 V2 Pro's retail price of $1,499, the KZ ZS10 is strikingly close. I've debated many times about selling my JH16 headphones and these IEMs might finally get me to that point. For me personally the JH16, although it has a great overall sound overall, often just lacks excitement for me. The KZ ZS10 has a sound that seems to make music pop and feels more energetic. So while the JH16 is definitely a great IEM, the KZ ZS10s are pretty good compared to a fraction of the price of the JH16. VE Monks: Not as comparable to the last two as it's a $5 stake but has an excellent reputation. I decided to include it as it's a popular choice for racquets and I currently use it when I'm on the go. I actually think the mids between the two are pretty comparable, but the KZ ZS10 has the isolation advantage and the bass is a lot more impressive. That's to be expected when comparing IEMs and headphones, though. High-quality models of monks have never really impressed me. Final Thoughts: The KZ ZS10 is a steal for the price. Looks, sound and comfort could easily be offered at three times the price. It's an overused phrase, but it's definitely a great treat for your headphones. The value for money is amazing and I'm glad I took a chance on them. I'd happily recommend them to longtime audiophiles like me, casual listeners who just want to hear their music without spending any money.
