Yes, it is a child's chair. but no child can open and close the thing
My daughter likes the chair, but the locking mechanism makes it almost useless. Virtually impossible to open and close (even for adults) due to poor lock design. I'm not sure why he even needs a lock. I would do without unless you leave it open and leave it in the kids room or outside on the porch. Had to buy another chair for the actual ride to the beach etc. annoying.
