I bought this with the intention of using the magnetic backing for a DIY stand. I already had a magnetic case from ESR with a tab to keep the Apple Pencil in place. I was planning to use a second ESR case as a DIY stand dispenser, but the ESR case is slightly larger than the iPad mini and gets in the way a bit when using the fingerprint reader. I bought the Moko case hoping it had the best dimensions and because it was a few bucks cheaper. Luckily, the Moko case was slightly smaller than the ESR case and didn't interfere with the fingerprint scanner. The color "Space Gray" also helps to hide the villi. Before cutting the case in half, I tested it as a case and it worked fine. The magnets are strong enough to support the weight of the iPad, the flip covers the screen as desired, and the flip acts as a secure stand. Total cost for the stand was about $30. Case "Moco" $15. Apparently you are using the "Vastland" tablet stand for the ruler $12- Remove the silicone rectangle on the back to reveal the 4 screws. Remove the back plate and install it backwards. I used a drill in the screw holes to get the screws to sit flush, but that's not necessary. I reused the silicone rectangle on the base plate to increase grip. Superglue $1- Place the reversed backplate onto the magnet case to get the desired position. Use the pen to create a rough outline. Apply super glue liberally. Place the stand along the contour and press for 15 seconds, leave on for 5 minutes. Optional - $1 Adhesive Foam - If you don't have a power tool to drill screw holes to hold the screws flush, you can also use Dollarwood double-sided adhesive foam to attach the magnetic case to the stand. If you have an original Apple Pencil or a third-party non-magnetic stylus, you can place it on the tabs behind the back that were originally used to hold the tablet.
